On this fine weekend Slytherin will play in our first quidditch match. Sadly, I will only be able to attend in spirit. I'm sure those snakes will sweep the floor tomorrow!

In other Hogwartsy news, I have acquired some goodies for my spoilee. They are safely stashed away with my goodies. I'm hoping to get some more goodies soon...

I have begun to create wedding shawls for my bridesmaids. We do not yet have a date, but hopefully that will get settled next week when we (hopefully) meet with the priest. There have been some scheduling challenges with him....

Anywhoo, the plan is to make each bridesmaid a lacy shawl. Currently I've got 8 on that list, so this should be a fun challenge. The pattern I've chose (Ocean Waves, if you'd like to rav it) is simple enough that I quickly considered it mindless knitting. Hopefully this means I can take on a more challenging project (KP's East Meets West bag, anyone?) and use the shawls as a refreshing break.

Also, on this Friday afternoon, I've discovered a show on "death masks". weird. I've never heard of this before and its apparently a common thing...

I cannot believe I'm up at 7 am on a Saturday and its not for the match! I have been roped into working this morning. Presenting a workshop for a group of parents and high school aged youth....by myself. Normally, in a situation like this, I would bring along a couple of the students that I work with. But no, just as my schedule is jammed, apparently their's are as well. So here I sit, next to an empty oatmeal bowl, listening to a quick podcast in my bathrobe savoring every bit of weekend one can suck out before 8 am. I had great plans to taking some photographs of my newly pedicured toes and some of the goodies I've stashed away for my spoilee and of course the wedding shawls I just started. Oh well...I'll photograph these things eventually (hopefully before the toes grow out ;)

Yep, I'm gonna show it off some more ;)

1. Please describe the physical appearance of a house elf.

House elves are small creatures with relatively large heads, large bat-like ears, large round eyes and often a distinctive nose

2. Kreacher is the house elf of which wizarding family?

Kreacher is the house elf of the Black family. He is rather important later in the series...

3. What is Hermione Granger making for the house elves?

Hermione knits primarily hats for the house elves. I am not sure if she also makes scarves and socks or if I am merely projecting that ;)

4. How do you free a house elf?

House elves are freed when their master presents them with an article of clothing. The nicer the clothing, the more offensive the freedom (or dismissal) is.

5. What does S.P.E.W. stand for?

Society for the Promotion of Elfin Welfare

First off, I must apologize to my housemates. I have not done my homework...though I do have a transfiguration that wasn't listed....Ready...

So, needless to say I've been distracted with non-hogwarts related things this week. Though, I think this does prove something...I am definitely a Slytherin ;)

So I am supposed to give a detailed explanation of how I chose my three characters. Here goes, and remember this is a literal re-enactment…

thinking to self while signing up for HSKS 10

hum, let’s see, who did I want. I like the Slytherin men, so that’d be Draco, Snape….oh Rita Skeeter, that could be fun! Let’s go Skeeter, Umbridge, and Trelawny!

end of re-enactment

So my initial thought was dark deep toned stuff, then I saw Rita Skeeter’s name and pictured her jeweled glasses and outrageously colored outfits! I couldn’t resist. Plus she seems like the kinda of girl that would wear deep rich tones with some bright pink (Umbridge) or purples added in.

Did you catch how Umbridge worked into it? Good, that’s all for her.

Then Trelawny…so last night I attended a muggle meeting of knitters (I’m in Slytherin, yes we sneak out a lot) and was showing off some of my finished lace shawls. I wore all three at once. Doesn’t that sound like Trelawny? Shrouded in lacy, filmy shawls. When I really don’t want to go to a class, I always put on a lovely lace something and wrap myself in it. Knowing how great I look, and how nice it feels, I can’t help but feel a little better about going to class.

Really, my choice was made on a whim, thinking of deep rich jeweled tones (one crazy character) and the lovely lacys that I love to wrap myself in.
